"TERRA: Return of the Divine Feminine" for the Second Edition Manuscript: ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Page 124 There are three different commonly known components of the Mayan calendar, each representing a different period of time, or different cycles Page 125 recognized in the Mayan culture and astronomy. There is the 260-day component called the Tzolkin – the one that was the basis of their everyday existence. (i.e. If the IRS existed during the Mayan days they would be collecting tax returns every Tzolkin) Then there was the 360-day calendar, known as the Tun. This is comparable the solar calendar representing a solar year (i.e. roughly the amount of time it takes for the earth to make a complete revolution of its orbit around the sun). But the most famous element of the Mayan calendar is the 26,000-year “Grand Year”, also known as the “[REMOVED TEXT: Precession] [ADDED TEXT: Procession] of the Equinoxes”. This cycle comprises five 5,100 year Mayan periods known as “Great Cycles”. The earth rotates on a north-to-south axis that is tilted approximately 23 degrees off center of “true north”. It is this tilt that causes the phenomenon of the four seasons on earth. But this tilt changes ever so slightly in a concentric pattern, so that it takes about 26,000 years for earth to return to the same relative direction of tilt in its Grand Year “wobble”. Scientists are still unclear how the Mayans knew so much about cosmic phenomenon that modern astronomers have only recently discovered. Be that as it may, this Grand Year charts the progression of this wobble cycle, and its related astronomical associations with uncanny accuracy. According to the Mayan calendar we are in the fifth and final 5,100-year Great Cycle of the Pisces Grand Year that started almost 26,000 years ago. [ADDED TEXT: From the standpoint of astrological esotery there is an additional period or measurement of time cycles known as an “Age”. An age is an approximate 2,160 year period of time, depending on what calendar you use to represent a year – for instance, the Tzolkin, the Tun, the Julian, or the Gregorian, etc. (It is this approximate 2,160 year period of time to which Jesus referred when he said, “Behold, I will be with you until the end of the world.” The word “world” used by Jesus here was incorrectly translated as such, and should have been translated as “age”. The “age” to which Jesus referred was the Piscean age represented symbolically by the two fishes. This age started approximately at the birth of Jesus and ends approximately on the Winter solstice of 2012. The age which follows the Piscean age – i.e. the next approximate 2,160 year period – is known as the Aquarian age. This 2160 year astrological cycle represents the amount of time it takes for the earth to move through one house of the “greater” zodiac in a motion called “precession”. This precession through the zodiac takes one twelfth of the time to proceed through the entire zodiac, or one twelfth of the 26,000 year Grand Year cycle. The term “precession” is used because the direction of the wobble of the earth’s axis through the twelve houses moves in the opposite direction of earth’s rotation.] [REMOVED TEXT: This period of time is what’s referred to in astrology as an “age”.] Page 126 Since the prior four of these [ADDED TEXT: 5,100 year] Great Cycles within the Pisces [REMOVED TEXT: age] Grand Year all ended in cataclysm on earth some researchers believe that the Mayan prophecies of the destruction of the world at the end of this current Great Cycle – which also happens to be situated at the end of the 26,000 year “Pisces” Grand Year [ADDED TEXT: and the end of the 2160 “Pisces age”] [REMOVED TEXT:, or Age of Pisces ending in the year 2012] – are merely an extrapolation based upon precedent. It is postulated that they may have merely assumed that this Great Cycle would end the same way that the previous four did, i.e. in global catastrophe. But this type of thinking doesn’t take into account that we are not just ending another 5,100 year Great Cycle, but that we are beginning a brand new 26,000-year Grand Year, or a new “age” with drastically different astrological energetics than those which influenced the Pisces age.
